Top 5 PS5 games to get excited about in 2020
The pandemic has been controlling our lifestyle, restricting us to our homes since the inception of 2020, but the good news for avid gamers is that the 9th Gaming Generation is almost here. The stage is set for the most anticipated release of the PS5 games in the upcoming months this year. The games will be released in two models- an All-Digital Console and a UHD Blu-Ray player. Sony has confirmed over 40 titles in an immersive and extensive gameplay experience, which includes PS5 exclusives and a ton of classic remakes of old fan favorites. Here are the top 5 video games you may want to pick up on its arrival.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla
With a much darker tone and content than Odyssey and Origins, the next entry in the popular Assassin’s Creed Franchise is set in 873 AD visiting an alternate history timeline for the Viking invasion of Britain. The protagonist Eivor can be male or female, as you set about on a journey from Norway to England and much more. Beneath the chaos in England, while the reign of Vikings ruled by petty lords and warring kingdoms, lies a rich land waiting for a new conqueror. The ruthless fighting style of Viking Warriors and the revamped combat system comes with dual-wielding weapons against a bigger army of enemies like never before. You will get to see the rap battles between Vikings called “flyting”, effects of alliances- like weddings to forge a relationship between clans and its harsh consequences. The players will have to bear the impact of their own decisions in the community they choose to play. The game is all set to release in November 2020.
Publisher: CD Projekt RED
An open-world, action-adventure story set in a futuristic Californian dystopia, CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming RPG that everyone is waiting for. Also, how excited are you to witness Keanu Reeves himself appearing as a non-playable character named Johnny Silverhand in the game? Sources describe his character as a “digital ghost” as he communicates via a digital chip! The game is a megalopolis of “Night City” obsessed with glamour and power, allows players to choose from eight different “Edgerunners” and control and customize them. As the player decides and shapes the story, various alternative endings are possible. As it was initially set for an April 2020 release date, it has jumped to November 2020, closer to the PS5 console launch itself.
Horizon Forbidden West
Publisher: Guerrilla Games
After the incredible Horizon Zero Dawn ended on a cliffhanger with many unanswered questions, fans could not help but wonder when they would return to Aloy’s world. Initially, Horizon Zero Dawn was intended to be a PS exclusive. It was released on PC to make players be interested in the story-line and get sufficiently hooked on to the game to take an interest in the soon-to-be-launched PS5 sequel Forbidden West. Now that is some smart marketing for PS5! The more giant question fans have in mind is that if Forbidden West will follow the path of Zero Dawn to become a PS5 exclusive and become a PC port eventually.
Nonetheless, Forbidden West comes with more Robo-dinosaur battles and is going to take place across California, with the landmarks reclaimed by nature that show horrific monsters and new tribes. It will have a new focus on underwater traversal and, most importantly, giant mechanical mammoths. Greatness in the post-apocalyptic world indeed awaits. It is expected to be released in 2021.
Watch Dogs Legion
Yet another massive urban open-world game, set in London’s various landmarks such as Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Camden, Piccadilly Circus, or the London Eye. The publisher Ubisoft has confirmed that players will be able to switch between any NPC on their DedSec team at any time. It is mostly as simple as 1,2,3- where you can select the character from a menu bar. Players can recruit and play as anyone in the city where each character has a unique backstory, skills, and personality. They get the opportunity to take down enemies with an Augmented Reality Cloak. You can create a team with your friends to complete missions and challenging endgame content. Watch Dogs Legion is coming to you soon in October 2020.
Spider-man: Miles Morales
Publisher: Insomniac Games
After 2018’s amazing Marvel’s Spider-Man, everybody knew its sequel would have a greater focus on Miles. Insomniac Games has confirmed that this will be a standalone title but on a smaller scale compared to its predecessor with a new story, fresh villains, and a multicultural background. It will be a standalone game that falls somewhere in between a sequel and a full story expansion. With a similar costume to Peter Parker, Miles also comes with unique powers, along with the publisher introducing a new take on the wall-crawling formula, which players will be able to experience on PS5. It is due to be released in 2020 as a launch title.
These are some of the best contenders that are very certain in the pipeline. There is a little time until the PS5 officially launches at the end of this year during Holiday 2020. Still, there are no fewer reasons for you to start getting super excited about what you are about to witness in the next generation. Soon, we hope that Sony announces the PS5 price too. While there are a plethora of games for gamers to choose from, these are the top 5 we recommend. Hope we all enjoy the new phase of video games that have come to the dawn of a new age!
